Angelini Holding publishes its first sustainability report. The Group headquarters receives Platinum LEED certification®.

In 2020, Angelini Group companies cut their water consumption by 2.5% and used over 30 million self-produced or renewable-source kilowatt-hours.

Rome, 29 September 2021 - Angelini Holding - the Angelini Group’s holding company - has published its first sustainability report and obtained Platinum LEED® certification for its Rome headquarters, Casa Angelini.

The Angelini Group's first Sustainability Report, covering 2019 and 2020, analyzes the environmental, social and economic impacts of its activities. In 2020, the Group companies used 5.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity procured from renewable sources and 25 million kWh of self-generated energy. They reduced water consumption by 2.5% on 2019.

Recruitment increased by 15%, with 47% of new workers under the age of 30, and the Group provided over 71 thousand hours of training during the year. Special attention was devoted to responding to the Covid-19 emergency through initiatives for employees and the entire community.

LEED® certification, which the Angelini Group’s headquarters in Rome has received, was developed in the United States by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with the aim of promoting and developing a global approach to sustainability by recognizing virtuous design and construction practices in key areas for human health and environmental protection, in order to establish guidelines for the construction of sustainable buildings with people in mind. In Italy LEED is promoted by GBC Italia, a USGBC partner association responsible for disseminating and developing principles and tools (including its energy-environmental protocols) of sustainable construction, in support of the ecological transition underway.

The certification was awarded to Casa Angelini - the multinational group’s headquarters in Rome, currently spanning an area of approximately 30,000 square meters with plans to expand and develop another 20,000 square meters - and confirms a 35% reduction in energy consumption, corresponding with the emissions that would be produced by running the engines of 400 parked cars for an entire year - and a 69% reduction in water consumption - enough water for approximately 43,000 showers. In addition, 20% of the materials used for the construction and development were recycled.

We are extremely proud of this certification,” announced Thea Paola Angelini, Executive Vice Chairman of Angelini Holding, “which shows how our Group’s Casa Angelini is a benchmark of excellence for eco-sustainability. Our vision “Building a Better Future” is based on an approach to sustainability that stems from the idea, at the core of our strategy and business model, of passing down over time the value that we have created and developed to date."

The Angelini Group’s first Sustainability Report illustrates the environmental, social, economic and governance impacts of all the activities carried out by Angelini Holding and the Group's operating companies, with a specific focus on their practices and conduct with employees, communities, the environment and all Group stakeholders in general.

Sustainability,” remarked Sergio Marullo di Condojanni, CEO of Angelini Holding, “is an opportunity to constantly improve the quality of our products and our actions. This first Angelini Group Sustainability Report demonstrates our conviction that innovation, inclusion, talent development, environmental protection and care for the communities where we operate are vital in accelerating the economic development of society and our company."

The Report also shows that in 2020, of the Group’s 5,700 employees, more than 4,000 are based in Italy and 91% have permanent employment contracts. Thanks to Fameccanica, the Angelini Group’s industrial automation and robotics company, 12,000 trees have been planted to offset CO2 emissions.

The Angelini Group has paid particular attention to helping alleviate the Covid-19 emergency: Fameccanica launched production lines for surgical masks, Angelini Pharma donated of 900 thousand bottles of Amuchina and Fater delivered 740 thousand liters of bleach. In addition, the Angelini Foundation has donated €1 million to the Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital in Rome, where the coronavirus was isolated for the first time in Italy in February 2020.
